Release Notes v7.2.4

The BeeGFS 7.2.4 release includes small bugfixes and QoL improvements and makes BeeGFS compatible with the newest distribution releases and kernels.

General Changes/Improvements

  • Direct I/O re-enabled in native cache mode (had been disabled in 7.2)

  • Storage targets can now also be bound to the underlying filesystems’ UUID (see release notes for 7.2.3 for more information)

  • The InfluxDB driver for beegfs-mon now supports basic authentication

  • BeeHive updates:
    • Only root user can now create or update an index and create a tree-summary table

    • Creating and updating the index can now also create a tree-summary table.

    • All beehive commands were renamed

  • Documentation updates

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with changes in 7.2.3 that made failing resyncs (“Modification resync failed”) more likely under certain workloads

  • Fixed a potential meta service lockup caused by issues with cleaning up worker queues when a resync is aborted

  • Multiple fixes for native mode direct I/O

  • Fixed a possible memory leak caused by failed RDMA connections

Known Issues and Limitations

  • The Metadata daemon does not work reliably on RHEL/CentOS 8 due to a problem in the libc version of RHEL/CentOS 8. The problem was fixed in RHEL/CentOS 8.1.

  • The client module might hang if the IBV device(s) used are taken offline during operation.

  • The client module does not compile on SLES 15.2 with Mellanox OFED 5.2
